Is Such Sweet Sorrow
Last week, I kissed my son, Ben, daughter-in-law
and only grandbaby goodbye. They moved to Whiteman Air Force Base in
Knob Noster as a result of the federal government’s decision to shut down
the Air National Guard unit at Lambert, where Ben was employed. He
would have preferred to stay near here, but

This Week? This week I
was the keynote speaker at the Foster Grandparents Award Luncheon
presented by the North East In 2007,
Foster Grandparents volunteered over 32,000 hours working with
children. If you are interested in volunteering to help a child in
need, you can contact Becky Fauerbach at (636) 272-3477. Income
guidelines apply. RSVP is another volunteer
opportunity for people age 55 and over. Nearly 500,000 volunteers across
the country are tackling tough issues in their communities through this
program. It also offers flexibility on amount of time served and
skills used, and there are no income guidelines. Contact Mary
