In Honor of Our Country’s Birthday

Rep. Davis and Congressman Todd Akin dress in period

costumes to celebrate Independence Day.

If you need a great idea on how to celebrate Independence Day, please consider watching the O’Fallon Fourth of July Parade.  I have been in this parade every year since 1994 and I hope to see you there.  If you don’t recognize me, it is because I will be dressed like Molly Pitcher.  In the Revolutionary War, Molly carried water in a pitcher from a well to her husband and his fellow artillery gunners. When her husband was wounded, she took his place at the cannon for the remainder of the battle.

Wallbuilders, an organization dedicated to presenting America's forgotten history and heroes, offers additional thoughts on celebrating July 4:

When the Founders approved the Declaration of Independence in 1776, John Adams suggested the way in which the day should be celebrated. We still follow his suggestion that the Fourth "be solemnized with pomp and parade -- with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations from one end of this continent to the other," but we seem to have forgotten his recommendation that theFilename: j0384894.jpg

A Little Bit of Humor…

In the months and weeks leading up to the release of Star Wars Episode III, a toy company produced a new line of Star Wars toys. Based on their research, each toy was doing well except in Detroit. The Yoda figurine was not selling at all, so they decided to look into this.

After six months of study, they determined people in Detroit simply don't like toy Yodas.
